Easter Opportunities
April 1, 2012
Fellow H4L Class Members:
With Palm Sunday coming up this weekend, it reminded me of all the opportunities coming up in the next few days to reach out to others and invite them to church. Statistics show that more people are open to an invitation to church at Easter and Christmas than at any other time of the year. Here are just a few thoughts on inviting a friend or relative to church:
Palm Sunday – This weekend! Why wait? Why not ask a friend to come to church with you this Sunday? Beat the Easter rush! Seriously, what better way to prepare ourselves for meaningful Easter worship than to be in church on Palm Sunday.
Holy Week Lunches & Services – April 2-6. Do you have a co-worker who is in need of a church home? Here is a great way to introduce someone to our church by inviting them to have lunch with you and attend worship one day this week. The worship services are at Noon each day in the Sanctuary with lunch from 11:00 to 11:45 or from 12:30 to 1:15 in the Fellowship Hall. Tickets are $7.00 and can be bought at the door or on line at www.2pc.org/lunch (The nursery is available for children 4 and under.)
Maundy Thursday Evening – April 5. Invite a friend or family member to dinner at 5:00 in the Fellowship Hall and for a special Communion Service at 6:30 in the Sanctuary. There is even a nursery available for children 4 and under.
Good Friday Service – April 6. This is always a special service. Invite someone to attend worship with you at noon in the Sanctuary. (The nursery is available for children 4 and under.)
Easter Egg Hunt – April 7. What a great opportunity to help your child invite a friend to church! Be on time for the start of the egg hunt at 11:00am at the Poplar football field.
Easter Sunday – April 8. We have 4 worship times for Easter Sunday morning. The Sunrise Service at the Memphis Botanic Garden starts at 6:30am. Worship services in the Sanctuary are at 8:00am, 9:30am, and 11:00am. (There is no Sunday School or Evening Service on April 8th.)
Don’t miss an opportunity to share Christ and introduce someone to the fellowship of believers that they may be seeking. See you Sunday!
Neighborhood School – Dinner @ the Boy’s Dorm
April 1, 2012
On Thursday, March 29th we had the pleasure of providing dinner from Tops BBQ to the boys at The Neighborhood School. We enjoyed spending time with the boys and learning about their life in the dorm. On April 26th we will be hosting another dinner at the girl’s dorm. Please make plans to attend. Announcements will be made in class.
Cottage Meeting
February 25, 2012
The Cottage Meeting this year was held at the home of John and Camille Holmes. Everyone enjoyed great food and fellowship. Brandon and Liz Wells, daughter and son-in-law of Ron and Sarah Sadlow, shared some of their experiences as missionaries in Cairo, Egypt. They told many stories that proved how God is “in the details”. This was apparent at the very beginning of their arrival. They experienced some difficult times but God was ever present and provided them with a comfort that could only come from Him. We thank God for their willingness and sacrifice to take His word to unfamiliar places that seem so foreign to us. Please pray for Brandon, Liz and their family as they patiently and anxiously wait to hear where God plans to send them next. Thanks to the Holmes family for opening up their home.
Neighborhood School – Dinner @ The Girl’s Dorm
February 16, 2012
On Thursday, February 16th we had the pleasure of providing dinner to the girls at The Neighborhood School. When we arrived the girls were taking advantage of some slightly warmer weather and were playing outside in the courtyard. They were excited to see us coming. We set the table and everyone gathered in the dorm for some great southern food. We enjoyed meeting the girls and learning about their life in the dorm. God is clearly at work and continues to allow us to experience his joy through our relationship with him and with these young children. On March 29th we will be hosting another dinner at the boy’s dorm. Please make plans to attend. Announcements will be made in class.
